Oil pipelines and city blowups

Onalaska, Wisconsin which is north of Lacrosse is where the railroad lines to transport oil from Canada into the United States happens. The tar sands oil, that is not running through a pipeline called the Keystone XL pipeline, because the Keystone XL pipeline is being held up by Barack Obama. So the trains are running 24/7 365 days a year at 30 minute intervals.  Big tanker cars of 150 or more per train every 30 minutes.

The trains, of course, are owned by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad of which the biggest investor is Warren Buffett. Warren Buffett, of course, pumped a lot of money and prestige into the Barack Obama election campaigns. The environmentalists just don’t understand we are still getting the Canadian oil. You can get more oil with a constant stream pipeline, and financial estimates of the cost is it is 2 to 3 times the cost to send it by rail than it is by pipeline .

As some communities have tragically found out when there is a derailment it generally explodes. IT BLOWS UP!! Not so with a pipeline, it just leaks and usually can be cleaned up quickly.

The environmentalists refuse to recognize that we have over 190,000 miles of pipeline crossing this country, including the Ogallala Aquifer, which were laid long before the current crop of environmentalists were born and don’t have any of the massive safe guards designed into the Keystone Pipeline XL project. I would estimate that billions of gallons of oil is shuffled around the United States with this pipeline network, part of our famous infrastructure, and we have extremely rare leakages.

Yet they won’t allow an additional pipeline from Canada to reduce our dependence on crazy people like OPEC, the rest of the middle east, South America, etc. Oil from friendly Canada. We cannot do that because Warren Buffett bought off Obama, keeping the Keystone XL pipeline from being built. If this was a Republican president who had put in a pipeline at the behest of a big oil company don’t you think that from the Democrats would be hollering about it until they got the Republican president impeached. But a Democratic president who will NOT build a pipeline at the behest of the railroad owner, is treated differently. How in the world is that different?
